Good evening.
You know, I was trying to work it out. I mean, I’m Tottenham yet I don’t really feel that much animosity toward Arsenal. Now look, I’m 44 years of age so it’s not like I should be able to rustle up too many Aunty Wengeresque excuses. They are our supposedly immediate idiot neighbours. And that whole Sol thing.
But I think I’ve nailed it.
My ‘irrational’ contempt comes from my very first Spurs game. Bill Nicholson’s Testimonial at The Lane and bless the old man, he bought us a pair of seats in the West Stand Lower. We were living at the time in a place Bruxie knows well, Rhinedahlen, BFPO 4o if you please!
This wasn’t my first time at a football match, or indeed my first time at a large public event. But the West Ham fans were fierce. I mean proper fierce. Every moment of the bloke announcing various elements of the day’s celebration were marred by West Ham booing and screaming. Jumping up and down like the unwashed mentalists they still are today.
‘Good job they can’t get out’ I remember nervously saying to dad. He replied, ‘Oh don’t worry about them. Most of the stewards normally work full time at London Zoo, we’ll be fine!”
Warren Mitchell was the master of ceremonies that day. On TV, Alf Garnett was a bigoted, racist West Ham fan. But that was acting. Mitchell was in real life, Tottenham of course. As he tried to speak, the Upton Park animals barked in earnest.
‘Shhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadup!’
There was about 2 or 3 seconds of wonderful silence, then we – us – the Yids – the Tottenham laughed. The whole stadium laughed. Oh how I loved that moment. My tribe had scented it’s territory. I nearly cried with a mixture of pride and relief. How things never change, eh?
So I am writing in the morning to Peter Herbert asking him what he plans to do about today. Or does the plight of whitey not count?

Nowadays hate the Chelsea most. Then Arsenal. Find it hard to get too excited about West Ham. A gruesome rabble, of that there is no doubt. But they are more or less irrelevant to us.
As for Herbert, he seems to have gone remarkably quiet. His deadline for us to stop using the yid word came and went and nothing happened. The Twattenberk case fell apart at the seams as widely predicted and he has had nothing to say about it. Perhaps he woke up one morning a week or so ago and had a major realization: ‘Wait a minute… I’m a complete twat.’

Mr Herbert has blood on his hands. Life was plodding along all merry, our use of the word yid offending no one, apart from an over-rated tv so-called celebrity, Chelsea fan. This muppet pipes up and the next minute one of our faithful is subjected to a brutal attack from Italians shouting anti-semitic comments, and now the low life Spammers.
Any lawyer of any worth would realise our chants are not made to cause any offense and as such are within the law.

West Ham are the lowest form of scum. Had the good fortune to be sat right next to the racist little inbred boys this afternoon – the levels of hatred and chanting was absurd. Pure gut level hate, they were getting themselves all in a lather.
But. We destroyed them on the pitch and fans destroyed them in the terraces, outsung them and outwitted them at every turn. It was a joy to behold. And the West Ham wooooo chant was hilarious and had us in stitches.
No noise from the pikey boys now.
Victory is sweet.

the spammers have shown themselves once again, a deplorable bunch who don’t deserve the right to attend other football grounds, on a brighter note, the midget gem got a couple and from what i can ascertain the boy lloris had another good game. given that redschnapps is now back at work and the chavski rotters have employed the fat spanish waiter, can we assume the lazy hacks will give avb the time and space he will need to improve us like i for one know he can/will.

I was not one of the Harry Haters, but I did hate his “Rent-a-Quote” antics. How refreshing AVB has been in that department.
I suspect that QPR will face the drop this season, and I fear that when HR gets booed because of this, he will say “Idiots! What did they expect? When I got there, they had four points from thirteen games”.

Redknapp plays it safe. When he took over at Spurs, he was well aware that only one club in history had a start as bad as us and survived the drop. It was a no lose situation, couldn’t really be blamed for us going down, but hailed for keeping us up. Same with QPR.
You’ll notice that his antics in the transfer market backed my “no risk” theory up. Whether it was he or the chairman that made these calls is up for debate, but it always seemed like he’d buy a Steven Pienaar for £3m because at worst he’s an okay “squad player” but at best he’d be awesome and Redknapp looks like a genius. No lose again.
I believe that became his downfall. In his eyes, he took us over when we were 20th, so unless he got us relegated at any point, he’d done a good job. To an extent he’s right, but he failed to realise that success breeds expectation, ergo we were disappointed that we dropped a 13 point lead and gave up 3rd place to Arsenal, even though at the start of the season everyone would have been happy with fourth.

Always thought they were the worst behaved supporters in London. Hailing from Basildon, I was always surrounded by WH fans, so I have always disliked them just a little less than the Arse.
They always would wait to greet us at barking station after getting off the south tottenham train, which was nice!
Nowadays I’m surrounded by Chelsea fans in Sussex, so the west ham rivalry thing has died off a bit.

Away fans are mostly season ticket holders, each seat has a number, each numbered seat has someones name on it as more than likely they are Pikey season ticket holders or Pikey members.
CCTV in the security box way up in the sky will be able to pick them out in full glorious HD with bells on……

I think this goes way beyond football and into society in general, it makes me sad to be part of the football family and equally ashamed to say I share the same language and citizenship as these mindless idiots. At the end of the day it is just a game of football.
The first three words I could say were up ‘up the ‘purs’. As soon as I was old enough I went to every home game and most away matches. I simply fell in love with Spurs but now I feel like falling out of love with football in general and everything it represents. As a kid I was taken to watch Spurs train at Cheshunt. Ardilles and Villa had signed, I spoke to them, I couldn’t talk to Hoddle, the words wouldn’t come out I was so in awe. Today, you would have more luck breaking into the Bank of England than getting in to see the team train.
What has football really become, a microcosm of the worst part of society…

My grandparents lived near the old training ground at Chesthunt, my sister and I used to go and see the players there, Archibald and Crookes spring to mind mucking about in the car park. The squad used to jog past the ole dears as they went to get their pension and would all say hello to them. I met Hoddle when I was nine through his aunt, she worked with my dad, and I couldn’t say a word was just dumbstruck! Fast forward to now, took my 6yr old son to WHL and waited out side the gates to get him an autograph from one of his heroes and not one of them would even acknowledge anyone was stood there! The only signature he got was from Alan Mullery who was an absolute star. Haven’t been since then, it was the Blackpool game when C.Adam nobbled Bale, it’s a 200 quid day out for us plus a 4hour round trip! Funny I stopped watching F1 because it was getting so expensive!

Could this EDL who “defend western culture and multiracial” be the same EDL that, on 9th October 2010 in Leicester threw fireworks, smokebombs and bricks at the police and then proceeded to smash the windows of The International Arts Centre? Or upheld “Western Values” by posing in paramilitary outfits with guns and crossbows? Or, was the heroic EDL member Simon Beech who, on 7th December 2011 jailed for 10 years along with an accomplice for an arson attack on a mosque upholding “Western Culture” at the time? If the action of these absurd individuals are defending “Western Culture” then the barbarians are truly within the gates.

You can’t blame a whole club’s support for a lunatic fringe with one brain cell to share between the 50 odd of them that make up their number. As generally unpleasant many of their support can be.
For example the punk band ‘Cockney Rejects’ are 100% born and bred Spammers and are pretty rough diamonds to put it mildly but they’ve always rallied against the racist elements beginning in their youth in the late 70′s when casual racism and even nastier stuff was just an everyday thing. Not just within football support but the large right wing elements hijacking working class youth culture at the time. I suppose my point is, be careful to tar them all with the same brush.
Lets also not forget Wet Spam have a reasonable number of Jewish fans themselves, they are the East End club. An area with as much Jewish history as North East London, if not more. I wonder what their Jewish support must think of it?
This lot should be picked out and banned from football grounds for life. Peter Herbert will probably trot out another load of cliches if asked about today’s game to try and give the impression that his proposed ‘Black Players Union’ would in some way inclusive to others. It’s in the bloody name innit, you’re just an idiot Mr Herbert and you’re in way over your head. Leave it alone now before you embarrass yourself and the legal profession any further…

I know that a lot of Tottenham and Arsenal’s Jewish support originates from all areas of London but there are still plenty of Jewish West Ham supporters and Chelski supporters. Would they prefer any reference to the Jewish religion be in the context some of their fans use it or the way ours use it? Let’s sort that disgusting nonsense out first shall we before turning on Spurs fans?
When you hear the kind of brainless crap we heard today, don’t you think Mr Herbert and the ‘SOBL’ are rather picking a fight with the wrong club on this issue? David Badiel also, have a look at your own club and their shocking record on this stuff before prioritising having a go at Tottenham. Talk about miss the point… Anyway, all a bit complex really. The only part that isn’t is that those thick bastards should be banned, end of.

“I know that a lot of Tottenham and Arsenal’s Jewish support originates from all areas of London but there are still plenty of Jewish West Ham supporters and Chelski supporters”.
The one thing I have always found to be consistent is their stupidity. As an example, there was the racist chants by Lazio in the first game every time Lennon got the ball, even though Lazio has black players. We know Wet Sham will have it’s Jewish support, but that wont stop them abusing Jewish supporters whilst explaining to his Jewish Wet Sham mate, that “all Yids are filth except for you”.
Possibly the most famous example of this stupidity was the white woman who hated Muhammad Ali so much, that she attended most of his fights near ringside, and could be heard screaming “Kill the Nigger” throughout most of the fight, even though most of Ali’s opponents were themselves black.
Then of course there is the KU Klux Klan in the US, which prides itself on it’s Christian values, though Roman Catholics need not apply. The ultimate irony of course, is that Christ couldn’t join either because he was a Jew.
There is an old joke about the man who was complaining about immigrants. He says, “I am so fed up with all these immigrants, that I have half a mind to join the National Front, to which an immigrant replies, “You are well qualified then. Half a mind is all you need”.
For all that, I cannot bring myself to hate Wet Sham supporters, because to do so, would be like hating someone because they are retarded.

I don’t deeply hate any other club, i only have a deep and intense dislike of other clubs and Arsenal are just about at the top of that list. I dislike them most, they’re bleedin’ Arsenal for craps sake!!
Yeah, Chelski, Wet Spam i’m not keen but it’s how their fans have such a problem with us that makes me dislike them. It’s almost like they’re jealous of our heritage and class and tradition of playing the right way since the 50′s. Wet Spam actually have a better football tradition than Arsenal’s historically.
I feel no affinity with Arsenal just cos of Wenger’s recent influence. They’ve always been functional with limited flair and boring as crap until he turned up… Certainly being ‘well run’ i prefer to the Chavs etc but that does’t make me like them to any degree at all. Old -school Gooners are sometimes tolerable but they have as many ‘johnny come lately’s’ as the Chavs do. Another reason to regard them as our main rivals and a load of poxy South London dog shit on the bottom of my blue and white shoe!!! Fuck em.

Hate is a terrible thing to have. It can eat you away like a cancer. I can understand it with the victims of Nazis or when a criminal does something heinous to a member of your family. I had a taste of it to a much lesser, and on reflection completely unjustifiable extent when my partner and my friend in the 1980′s had an affair. It can never be towards someone who merely supports another football team. This takes it to an abstract sort hate which doesn’t make sense at all. How can you hate someone you have never met?

Spot on, it happens with individuals too. The amount of threats and nasty stuff through Twitter etc is a case in point. The bile aimed towards Harry just seems totally irrational at times and we also see it with AVB now. Ok we are more keen on certain people than others based on their public profile but we must be very careful not to have our whole opinion of people manipulated by snippets or crumbs of information without ever meeting them.
An opinion of a club is even more detached as we’re talking about a group of people with a name attached to them. I dislike Arsenal intensely but i don’t hate them.
If you consider ‘intense dislike’ is as far as i can possibly go, then Arsenal are smelly Woolwich Pikey Johnny Come Lately’s and nothing more who think because of one manager that they now have a ‘tradition’ of passing football. Pikey and shit football is in their DNA, despite Wenger’s recent stuff.

Leeds for me, just because I was brought up in Halifax….Le Ar5e and Cheatski next followed by the bin dippers….don’t like Wigan, Bolton or Blackburn because they’re from wankashire but have a soft spot for Burney as I used to watch them in the early 70′s……I can’t hate the spammers too much as let’s face it, they’re a feckin joke…..

Got chased all the way back to the station when we beat Leeds 2-1 in January 1971. I thought if they catch us they will kill us. I tried to stuff my Spurs scarf down my leg, but it just made me look like I was wearing one-legged jodhpurs. Glad to get home after that one.

Don’t expect any more from those throwbacks. Feel sorry their non scumbag fans.
On a better note, was that the best we’ve played all season? I’d like to hear what people who go think, but it looked that way on football first.
Has Defoe scored a better goal than that?
And did Dempsey just have his best game in a Spurs shirt by a million miles? I was all ready to give up on him, but he looked quality today.

Dempsey started of tenuously but then got some confidence. The confidence factor is the MOST important thing.Redknapp knew that. Now we have to do it with the substance as well of an actual meaning.
Dempsey felt pressure I think early. He will find his groove (Good things will automatically kick in)He just has to keep at it.
We have no bad of a team, they just have to find their flow for each game and get and stay focused.

Still don’t get the concept of a non encompassing organisation “the black lawyers society” campaigning against being non encompassing ? As they used to say ” you can’t please all the people all of the time” we don’t live in a perfect world, some grotesque things do make us laugh and trivial things get under our skin.i have purposely avoided the R word as its context is clouded more day by day.lets just live a life to enjoy what we have, not envy what we don’t and try to make others smile

Oh dear. I thought he might have developed a shred of self-awareness and crawled back under his stone.
The ‘logic’ of blaming Spurs fans for attacks on them is akin to blaming rape victims for wearing too short a skirt, or indeed race attack victims for provoking people. What a complete and utter fool. Now, he’s someone I really would relish getting into an argument with!

this in the huffington post today: “Tottenham’s Jewish following has been worn as a badge of honour by the club the past 30 years as the club have embraced their Yids moniker. However this has led to anti-Semitism on the terraces”
Now it is possible to read this as saying that the Jewish following has led to the anti-Semitism but I fear a more natural reading is that it suggests the “Yids moniker” has done so. I mean, obviously there had never been any abuse of spurs fans before the adoption of said moniker!!! herbert and baddiel are quite extraordinary.
baddiel had a piece where he talked of how some thug at chelsea had been screaming anit-semitic comments from two rows behind him, did our intrepid hero, fighting for justice, go to a steward and have the thug kicked out? no, his bold and fearless stand is against the victims bringing it on themselves; indeed the short skirt theory. thank god we have him looking out for us, an example we can point our children to, fearless and brave

Just had a look at the link recommended by Papaspurs, and someone quite rightly points out that if we are to be prosecuted (or should that be persecuted) for the context in which we use the word “Yid”, will Mr Herbert be urging the Police to arrest black men for using the word “Nigger”?
Glad to see that the overwhelming majority of comments are in our favour. That is even more important because the Guardian is clearly one of our more liberal papers, and if the took the view that our use of the word “Yid” was meant to be offensive, then it would be reflected in the readership.

Dempsey did something playing for Spurs… Whoop de flipping do! Yes he looked kind of like a professional footballer tonight. Very good performance from the whole side, Bale came inside often and it worked a treat.
I remember H.R getting so much shtick for getting Bale to come inside last season. To leave a player of his ability stuck out on the wing is just madness. He just needs to learn when to come inside or stay wide and his reading of the game is clearly improving. Dempsey’s ball was quality but Bale’s take, touch and finish was almost as good for me. J.D great too.

You are right about Bale to an extent. The thing that worries me though is that his agent has got him roaming in a training exercise for Real. i.e. we have to suffer half a season where it doesn’t work and it generally counter-productive to our play, then a season where it starts to slowly work, and then he f-s off. Just my worry there.

Now fellas we need to be very careful here. I am by no means one of the PC brigade, but for the benefit of this post I`m going to try to look through their eyes.
Firstly, look yourself in the mirror and ask – if it were West Ham, Chavs or Goons that were stabbed up would `we` not chant some merry ditty in their direction? WH have spouted some filth at us over the years, but we haven`t been shy in spouting back. Herbert and his S.O.B.`s may have a stupid argument as far as we`re concerned, but they are educated and adept in springing traps. We are in danger of walking straight into their snare, this has panned out beautifully for them.
If we have claimed the right to wear the `yids` badge, then we need to accept being called yids by the opposition. Racism is not acceptable in any form, but it is inevitable in this context by the mindless few. If we keep on focussing on the fans` behaviour rather than our brilliant win, then we are playing into the S.O.B.`s hands. Their argument will be `WH have handed out life bans to guilty fans. Therefore the argument that you call yourselves yids as a defence mechanism is no longer a valid one, so keep your side of the bargain and drop it`. Otherwise, we are in danger of sounding like the bindippers – `remember Hillsborough, why should you ever forget. Hysel? What you talking about?` Now, I distinctly heard `No noise from the pikey boys` being sung. Like it or not, travellers are an ethnic group nowadays. I do not recall WH claiming `pikeys` as a badge of honour. This hypocracy plays right into the hands of the S.O.B.`s. Now to the real issue – great win, Lloris, Defoe and….was that really deuce? all looked good. Shame about the careless goal conceded, we need to beef up our GD. Bring on the scouse, this game couldn`t come at a better time for us. COYS.
