Posted on Friday, 29th June 2012 by Harry Hotspur

Good evening.
I’m serious. Looking around the Net since his inexplicable ‘interview’ on Sky late this afternoon and I now want to voice concern over his mental state.
When he was managing us at full steam, 8 points from 2 games and all that jazz well, yes he did wheel out plenty of ‘triffics’ and ‘for sures’ but it was little more than anyone with a bit of character having perfectly normal idiosyncrasies.
I’m not for a moment suggesting a man frequently using the same phrases and a similar style of speaking is an indication of mental fragility. But based upon this afternoon, some people must be asking questions.
‘Has he told Sandra he got the bullet?’ ‘Does he realise that this stuff is being shared with lots of people who haven’t been sectioned under the Mental Health Act?’
I get that people who aren’t in a job in football tend to float about. That’s quite normal. You’ll get Alan Curbishly pop up as a pundit on the telly. Maybe hear Phil Brown’s silky tones on the radiogramme. You may well have had Ian Dowie knock on your door of an afternoon, offering to tarmac your drive.
But since the England fiasco Arry has emerged as a real life Walter Mitty. The FA spent 80% of their press conference unveiling of Hodgson underlining endlessly that he was the only person they considered, contacted and interviewed.
Arry appeared blissfully unaware of the fact that no news primarily means, there is no news. If the phone doesn’t ring, this is not necessarily an indicator that the National Lottery people are still arduously trying to calculate the precise enormity of your win. The phone not ringing is an indication that all that you can be truly certain of is that it hasn’t rung.
And as the dark days of Arry losing his grip on his responsibilities (you know, day to day coaching of the team, that sort of thing) began to grip THFC by the jugular it now seems suspiciously like that he was simultaneously losing his hold on reality.
I said to the chairman “can you get me Carlos Tevez?”
The funny thing was my mobile had like an ansaphone thing on it and they never told me. It was chock-a-block, apparently.
We looked at Suarez. He was a player who we probably should have taken, looking back on it. We just weren’t sure.
I wanted to back in oranges at half time, you can’t do it these days, health and safety I suppose.
I actually tried to sign him for Tottenham before he went to Manchester City.
We was close to signing Christiano Ronaldo last year but Bondy only left his pen back at the hotel.
And the terrifying thing is that I only made 50% of the quotes up.
So on a serious note, when someone has reached a point where they predisposed to doing or saying insane things, almost as a default setting, then it is down to the rest of us to try and do the the right thing.
You do not offer Paul Gascoigne a drink. Sky and you too talkSPORT please, think about what you’re doing and don’t …offer Arry a microphone.

What annoyed me the most was the fact that when he was manager he went on how we didn’t have a right as fans to demand champions league football, nor challenging for the league, but today he says that the new manager will have to be challenging for the league.

Exactly. If he were still in the job, he’d be telling anything that would listen that “it will be very difficult next season, Chelsea will be strong, Liverpool will be strong.. etc. etc.”.
His latest bout of jibber jabber is designed to put pressure on AVB and to ensure that, if AVB is successful, to let everyone know that it was mainly down to him.
He’s a nasty litlle scumbag, and I’m glad Levy threw him out.

I dont think that there is a shrink anywhere in the world that would take him on. Hes beyond help. Walter Mitty with a twitch. If Sky had any sense they would do a documentary on him. There are several hours of interviews on tape that would have us all in stitches until we cry and at the same time teach all those that cant keep their mouths shut when they should a lesson on media utilisation.

Hopefully Levy & Co will tell him, ‘we’ll handle most of that. Why don’t we let your number two do the mundane stuff?’

Its a shame that the more he opens his mouth the more clear it becomes why he got sacked.
No premier club will touch him, knowing he will spend £50m at least.
He did not solely get us the position we have being in, it has being a great squad better thAn arse.
Bad management meant some great players were left to rot and when called upon could not offer anything as they did not feel part of squad.
A great players manager my arse, look at pav, gio, Bentley .pienaar for example.
Trevor brooking is regarding as a decent fellow so if he detests HR then that is god enough for me.
I would rather have terry Connor from wolves than the tax cheat.

What utter pish!
Again another fool who thinks everything great just happened because of the squad and it was only Harry who fucked it up.
Consider the logic…If Harry had nothing to do with the great form how can he be blamed for the bad form.
It might interest you to know that HR’s net spend was less than £10m in 4 years. About £2.25m a season and in the last 18 months or so his net spend was about -£30m.
Total lack of balance in your ill-informed moronic cretinous bullshit.
Overall I reserve judgement on whether sacking HR was a good thing until I see who comes in. I see the logic. I see Harry’s flaws and I see that this is a watershed moment for the club.
HR referred to some Spurs fans as Idiots and judging by the shite written on here by HH’s disciples, it’s probably one of his more accurate statements!

i dont care what his net spend was looked at in the abstract just as i dont care that we finsihed 4th, which is ok if looked at in the abstract.
i care that he wasted 15 mill on keane after we did the business of getting 20 mill for an 8 mill player
i care greatly that he subjected me to three years of peter crouch
i care that he spent a fortune of defoe (worth every penny) and then never played him. i care that had he not been bitter about bentley tipping water on him we wd have got decent moeny for him ages ago as he wd have played him and it wd have been an easy sell (he said right after that that bentleys days were numbereed). i care that we lost millions on bent because the moron could not resist a cheap laugh in front of camera about his bloody wife scoring goals, he is a buffoon
i care that if he had one honest bone and decent bone in his body we wd have finsihed 3 and i care that if he were a caoch half as good as he thinks he is we wd have finsihed second and we wd have qualified for the cl the year before instead of coming 5th after we dropped a huge number of points against the bottom four teams. he will keep trying to re-write history because he has started to believe the crap written about him by his mates, the same journo fools who think this england team is a good one and are ready to dump on hodgson because the fa had the affornt to ignore those useless journos..

Were you there that night vs Inter…I will never forget that.
there are many many other examples.
They way people go on on here you’d think that Harry took us down & bankrupted us, while doing our missus on the side.

Keep in mind AVBs brief for the racists was pretty difficult, consisting of overhauling the squad, bringing along youth, playing more eye-pleasing football and easing out the older player BUT not have any growing pains, dips in form, loss of CL places, etc. “Difficult” became “Impossible” when when Terry and his band of turds quit playing and Roman lost his nerve and backed Terry.
I don’t know what the future holds for him at Spurs, but I’m willing to give the guy a chance.

If we finish 12th next year, it will still have been worth flirting him – in out household that’s the honest consensus – so what’s worth dwelling on? A bit of genuine ‘natural justice’ for the odious shyster, something for him to dwell on while he’s walking his dogs on the beach. I don’t take any joy in it, he did great for us for 3 years then it went pete tong. But dignity is the word and sadly Harry aint got much left which is tragic after 35 years in the game. In Feb – only 5 months ago! – he was Da Man. A salutary tale for our times. How the mighty can fall, architect of his downfall, make your bed and lie in it. As sad in its way as poor old Gazza and sharing certain parallels with not so poor bob diamond. Crazy days eh? Mal, the honest truth is that by the time they were singing we want you to stay I had a cold feeling he wanted out.
The moment that was confirmed I wanted him out.
You talk about the crowd singing there. Were they the same ones whose singing, ‘Gareth Bale – he plays on the left’ woke Arry up as he was dropping off at Goodison?
I understand that the personal abuse doesn’t sit well with some. The trouble is people eventually lose their heads when they can’t see any change in a situation that seems glaringly obvious. People become exasperated.
Will AVB be our saviour? To me that typifies the wrong question to ask.
The purpose of removing Arry was to prevent him from doing that which he could not stop himself from doing …again and again and again.
He could not be trusted. He didn’t train the lads properly, he essentially didn’t take the gig seriously. When you hit that stage it’s not about what the next man offers, it’s more about ensuring he won’t repeat the stupidities of the last man.
AVB needs to be supported on the pitch and online we can call him a big ginger girl. But clowns like me who write the headlines need to keep a straight bat on this.
Screaming for him to be binned at Christmas if he’s doing his best isn’t the way forward. If he has a system in place and is doing his best – then I’ll gently morph into a less reactionary figure.
Redschnapps got buried by me because he didn’t do his best. He didn’t try his hardest and he felt he had bigger fish to fry.
I’m excited about next season because number one Spurs are playing and number two we’ve got quite a sexy squad that a manager who cared could get quite a bit out of.

we never took 3 from 27. Not last season not the season before.
Plus why not balance that from with that which saw us P11 W10 D1 L0 earlier in the season…that’s 27 from 30 points a run that only ended by Foy robbing us vs Stoke.
That was followed by another unbeaten 7 – W4 D3 L0.
You cannot look at the bad form in isolation

Harry’s ego got the best of him.Its always good for a while as you ride the energy and then reality seeps in and he covered that up with his nonsense.
He should have had more respect for the bench and the club and the fans.
Levy did the right thing and we should be a little patient.
The football world is a dichotomy of 38 million players and money pressures and Levy is cleverly walking the tightrope in between to his credit.

Thats like saying Arsenal fans cannot question Wenger.
Levy is accountable and needs to justify every decision.
He has clearly made the decision to give HR no money in 18 months, he probably expected him to go to England or Jail so has been building to this moment for a while.
Now we are there he has to make the right decision because he will be handing a very decent squad, a huge chunk of funds, great pay and a brand new training facility to the person who has to take us forward for the next 3, 5, 10 years.
With our need to attract funding and build the new stadium, this is a massive moment in our recent history. For these reasons you can see why HR was ditched BUT getting the next decision wrong (new manager) will be far worse than getting the last decision wrong (sacking HR).

You aren’t actually debating with anyone. You’re using all the usual tactics of someone who’s argument doesn’t hold up to much scrutiny. Shouting, repeating yourself, with the occasional lapse into playing the man not the ball. The ‘ace up your sleeve’ is threatening to accurately predict the future.
What concerns me here is you don’t seem to grasp predicting the future is precisely like predicting the sex of a baby.
So if you, as a fortune teller and Tottenham supporter par excellence feel the overwhelming urge to return to this two bob blog to crow about how it’s all gone wrong…

Any team with a squad of young players would be OK with harry until the next season when he starts buying cut price players and aging the team. If you have a sizable proportion of players over 30 they will carry previous injuries and recover slower toward the end of the season the good young ones are not played and become match unfit consequently they want to leave, by this stage the old players are knackered and slow. Essex and VDV and Modric.
My point wasn’t that VDV was better or anything compared to Modric except one thing.Modric have never been a game changer for us.VDV has been.
Whether VDV is not capable physically in a whole game or a big part of it is another matter (mata)

But Ronnie our whole Modus Operandi had to be changed to accommodate VDV and that was to the detriment of the team. Modric was compromised with VDV cutting across in front of him and it got worse as our wingers then switched flanks at the drop of a hat, creativity was negated as no one, especially Modric had a clue what was happening. How can you practice drills on the training ground when no one knows their positions ?

Agreed VDV had the ability and determination to change a game, for that reason he should have been used primarily as an impact sub ( given his lack of fitness ).
The incisive pass from Modric could change games but as I say it was virtually stiffeled by a congested forward midfield.
essexian76 Reply:

The point I am trying to make is this-Modric plays better without VDV in the side, results and performances shown that clearly-When VDV isn’t in the side, Modric is a different player entirely, more cutting and dynamic, more mobile and incisive, and that’s the Modric you should be judging; not the one that’s playing second fiddle to Rafa
Colin SC Reply:

Throughout the season I have been all for rotating the team. playing Defoe off Ade and bringing on VDV as a shock sub .. not the other way around. Not in a 4-4-2 still having Ade as a lone striker but having Defoe as a kind of crummer because that’s what Defoe is very good at. I would hate to see VDV go but I see him as part of a separate group of strategies that could be played from our normal ones. But yes I quite agree VDV and Modric clashes insofar as VDV’s anarchic play often just took the ball away from Mods or plain got in the way.

I think he comromised Levy with his comments and actually couldnt figure out that we needed to win at Villa
(50,000 plus Tottenham fans knew what we needed to do and it wanst put Parker on.)
Also his mouth….didnt hear a word out of him in the weeks and weeks after the court case….when he actually needed to speak to the players.

Well I can tell you ,as far as my understanding is,that he DID in fact speak to some players. What kills me is that everyone is now blaming Harry for the whole debacle with the FA and the England job.Look, let me remind you,Harry was NEVER offered the England job. The media ( radio papers, twitter, etc) and callers to the radio stations, were the ones who pushed this ENTIRE Harry thing. He was the ONLY one for the job.TalkSport were the biggest culprits. Every single show for what seemed like months on end,was the same.Presenters banging on about how HArry HAS to be the next manager ,and callers echoing their every word.People are making out like Harry engineered this whole thing. When everyone and his dog is screaming your name as next England boss, what’s a person supposed to do? Just ignore it? Unless he has ice in his veins ,he reacted like most people would in that situation. It’s got to throw anybody a little off balance and cause uncertainty wihnin the club but he didn’t engineer it,he didn’t ask for it,he did nothingt but react, amd this was all after a horrble court case ,which followed a stay in hospital .All in all a pretty daunting year. What the hell was the guy meant to do.Shrug it all off and carry on like nothing had happened for god sake?I’m not saying he handled everything perfectly, but at the end of the day,he’s only human. How people are blaming him for the whole England fiasco is beyond my comprehension. Like I said,If somebody doesn’t like the guy becasue he just rubs them up the wrong way..fair enough but don’t use hatred of the man as a licence to slag off eveything that he achieved at Spurs ,which was a hell of a lot. I’m not pointing a finger at you personally.I’m saying “people ” in general..well on this message board at least.

His inaction in our most critical games was telling but for me his lack of tactical understanding was the biggets problem.
Its really hard to say what he klnows and what he doesnt know about tactics. But I was blown away at his choice at Villa of Parker when we needed a win.
The defence stank. The abolity to see we had no one at the top in the striker position was also telling.

Well you can be glad Harry is gone ,but actually thats a moot point at this stage and people will either be in one camp ,or the other regarding that.
The bigger issue,is that AVB is NOT the answer. He is a PUNT… ( no not a typo although….) a long shot,a gamble, and as far as I’m concerned and if you read the papers or listen to the radio you’ll know that I’m far from a lone voice, when you replace a manager who took us to 4th place and a champions league year, you don’t take gambles and risks with a guy who just fell flat on his smug face not even 6 months ago.You go up a gear. You bring in a guy who is likely to take us to the next level.I have yet to hear a pundit,a broadcaster,or anyone say a positive word about Villas Boas. His reputation as a poor man manager precedes him,so why the hell hire the guy?Thats all I’m saying. The Harry issue is a dead one.He got sacked.I’m firmly in the Harry camp and believe he would have taken us to another level this season but thats all conjecture and meaningless.I’m sorry I got caught up in stupid arguments with peoiple who’s minds I’m not going to change and they certainly aren’t going to change mine. The appointment of AVB if it happens, is nothing more than a crapshoot on the part of the dark forces that run Tottenham.Levy and Lewis especially give me the creeps.
Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see us get off to a flying start and be challenging all season for a CL spot but sorry,I can’t see that happening with the manager that Levy is about to appoint.

Keeping a manager that sends on a rarely scoring midfielder instead of a regularly scoring striker when the season depends on a win is suicide for a club. Although AVB is not EPL proven I’m slightly more in the camp that wants to give him the benefit of the doubt; the Chavs were doing OK until the pressure went on from RA to play Torres and Terry’s mob dropped their lips. We’ll get Sig Vert and maybe Moutinho if Modric leaves (please don’t sell him to any club in the EPL, maybe except Citeh if we can get cash and players in return. Definitely not Utd or Chelski!!!), maybe even Sturridge. With Bale staying and no one else making leaving noises we are looking dangerous, at least on paper once we get another couple of strikers

What I do hope is; as soon as he is in they start playing and training together to come together as a team. Then he can evaluate what youth players are capable of coming into the team already, develop tactics, meld the team into a rotatable unified force before the season starts .. Then get in big players to tweak a hopefully brilliant system to an unstoppable one when the friendly matches start. You know … ‘Run about a bit’..

Was clearly allowed to do his own thing his own way at Porto.
Clearly wasn’t at cheatski.
If he does end up at WHL you have to suppose he’s likely to get the full backing of Levy & the squad, so maybe we should look to his Porto experience for inspiration and what he’s capable of.

We had a great team of players, who just told to run about a bit for training. we barely scored from set pieces or corners all year (you know the stuff coaches coach teams with(or not)). He alienated half the dressing room by simply not playing them. AVB has been accused of losing the dressing room however he was told to do it Harry did it purely by choice. There were no tactics or rotation .. He actually made inexplicable decisions i.e. Parker sub at Villa instead of Defoe effectively choosing to wreak our season..
I have said in this and other blogs I would prefer the tea lady at Scunthorpe to the Scnapper as I feel she would probably know more, talk less and be better for the team .. and I am sure AVB will be better than her.

So I guess Harry won’t be getting any Christmas cards from you then. I don’t agree with you sayinmg he alienated half the dressing room.Anybody who doesn’t get played always has a bone to pick about it and somebody once said “you can’t please all the people all the time but you can please some of the people some of the time” or something like that.Anyway,it’s very true in life and in sports,so if he did in fact piss a few players off, every manager does. From what I know he was very much liked. In fact I;ve never really heard a bad word said about him as a person by anyone who’s ever worked with or for him.Quite the opposite as it goes.As for tactics etc, your not going to find the perfect manager.Harry galvanized the team, made in my opinon some fantastic acquisitions, and took us out of mid table twilight zone.
AVB might be tactically better than the Tea lady at Scunthorpe, but I’d bet good money that her manner with the players would be far better. Her name is Edna.Hey don’t giove Levy any Ideas. He might like the sound of her and she could be brouight in by JAnuary ,right after AVB gets the heave ho for the 2nd and last time in the EPL.
Time will tell ofg course but I’d be shocked if this worked out, along with lots of other people.I reckon a good manager could have taken the same instructions that AVB had Chelsea and turned them into a postive, and thats where the differences between a good mananger / man manager and a poor one stick out like a sore thumb.

To be honest I don’t know personaly how well AVB will be with the players but I am sure he will rotate the squad better and at the end of the season that can only benefit the results. many of Harry’s recommendations (admittedly this may be due to limited funding from DL)were too old and became instant bench-warmers limiting options other squad players. Time will tell, I prefer to look at my cup being half full at this stage. I am hoping AVB has learned from his shortcommings at Chelsea and will come to us as a manager that has
both his tactical and strategic skills but also a manager that gets to know and understand the players and use all their skills.

Granny used to say that empty vessels make the most noise. HR was “intoxicated by the exuberance of his own verbosity” (with apologies to Disraeli). HR would talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime, about anything. Probably the reason he took his eye off the ball at the business end of last season. He was too busy yacking to someone. Known in the trade as Delusional Omnipotence. If AVB does come in we should at least give him a chance. At Chelsea he had the specter of the of the mad Russians Sacking Axe hovering over his shoulder. Never conducive to getting the best out of anyone.

West Ham..Close relationship with their Chmn Terry Brown. Despite selling around £75mil of players and seeing a new stand built at a cost £14 million Redknapp left the club £35 to 40 million in debt.
Redknapp could run a Timeshare Sales team it is probably where he belongs.

Much like that twat Risdale in charge at Leeds, it’s the chairman’s decisions that govern the financial state of a club, if they buy everyone the manager asks for then that’s their failure, not the managers.

He takes credit for anything good but,Rio Ferdinand success down to him but, fate, bad luck, others spending power, are reasons given when things go wrong. Wanted to sign Joe Cole, Phil Neville, plus “tried” to sign every player transferred in the last few seasons. “This is as good as it gets” talk etc. We may end up worse off but we had to remove this dinosaur as manager and try someone else!

I have never known any PL manager talkdown the aspirations of the club they manage, the history and heritage of the club they manage, the supporters of the club they manage. Before we had kicked a ball last season Redknapp made statements to the press that he would take the England job if offered it. Is that the action of a manager who has the clubs best interests at heart.. yes i thank redknapp for getting us out of a bad position when he arrived. I credit him for getting us into the CL.. let us not forget that apart from Bales amazing performances in the CL our team performances on the whole were not that “impressive”. However last season and this season his total ineptitude at managing a squad system, competing on several fronts in different competitions, training on dead ball defensive and offensive tactics and pre match preparations plus his constant outpourings of media soundbites to enhance the Redknapp brand have made it impossible for him to remain as a manager of this club. AVB is to my mind the best option available to us in terms of a young manager who prior to his Chelsea experience was being hailed as one of the top new managers around. His reputation was damaged at Chelsea and he cannot afford another failure so I would say he is probably coming to us with a point to prove and that may do us a favour.. Will the players respond to him ? One thing is for sure the regime will change, players will have to get fit and keep themselves fit, they will ned to work on tactics and prepare for each match and they will be accountable for their performances as they will be subject to detailed scrutiny which for professionals in any walk of life paid millions for what they do is not unreasonable is it? I will give the guy my full support from the outset if he joins us. All I want is to see THFC playing at the highest levels of the game throughout Europe.

Nicely put. The remark there about how he talked down Spurs put me into a spin I’m only just coming out of.
Bolton and Wolves are two good examples here.
Owen Coyle always spoke with affection about the Wanderers. He knew they had no money and maybe what, two and half players worth fielding, but he never said, ‘Bolton fans need a reality check, this is a Championship side waiting to happen.’
Mick McCarthy, sacked in a quite humiliating way, replaced by his number two who was completely unqualified for the task. Even then, Mick said he would consider going back. Never say never is what he said. He never said Wolves were two bob and few would have blamed him if he had.
The moment Arry felt the heat his first reaction was to blame others.
Anyway, he’s gone now, so naff him.

get real.
We had 10 men at Inter for 80 minutes….we were at the home of the Champions (CL & League). It was the biggest game/occasion most these players had ever seen.
How do you account for us doing them at WHL….just lucky I suppose….and AC away…Lucky Harry again!
SO STAGGERINGLY OUT OF HIS DEPTH that we topped the group of death…..you remember the group where all the Arsenal and Liverpool fans were laughing saying at us in August saying we’ll be lucky to get a point.
As for Young Boys that was a bad start, but we recovered. Indeed it was a tactical change by Harry @ HT (Huddlestone on) that swung things our way. We then demolished them at WHL.
You pick one half of football, early season, on a plastic pitch on our nervy debut in the CL to demonstrate his failings. There is clearly no convincing you otherwise.
You show me any “Bale going on loan to Forest” links and i’ll concede on that point. To me it’s just media speculation that “fans” take as gospel and use to attack Harry. Every manager needs a bit of luck. HR got lucky on that occasion and Bale took his chance, Maybe Bale was not showing it in training but took his chance….It happens (even still he was only 19 at the time)

I don’t hate Harry.. to be honest I don’t hate anyone. I know the team played well at times but I think in many ways this was in spite of Harry. I would like some of the “Harry lovers” to describe what he actually did in the way of being the head coach at Tottenham.
He had assistants for each capacity and tactically he famously didn’t have any. he as per his own admission could barely write. His strategic planning for games consisted of one lot plays in the premier league and the others play in Europa. Substitutions were sometimes crazy, he for some reason didn’t like playing Defoe who was scoring well whenever he was played. His preference for VDV wreaked the balance of the teams at times but he persisted even if VDV was not moving well due to injury. One of our best results of the season was when VDV had a calf injury and Defoe and the whole squad played together. Poor Newcastle could not cope with Bale and Walker on their right sides Mods in the middle and Ade and Defoe spreading the defense wide. For some reason we never did that again?
he had a good squad and alienated half as soon as our Europa league bid died.

He took us to finish 3 seasons on the trot in the top 5 something no manager has been able achieve since the 60′s. He took us into the Champions League which no manager has been able to achieve before. He produced a brand of football that was exciting to watch and got people talking about and taking an interest in Tottenham.
He did well for us, yes he let things go when he expected the England job which cost us a Champions League place, the services of Modric and opportunity to sign the players we want. Well he has paid the price. Time to move on and look to the future.
As for the suggestion VDV has it written into his contract he must play when most people would select him anyway is laugable.

The guy failed in the PL.Full stop. You can blame the players( some) ,you can blame Abramovich, whatever. The fact is that he’s meant o be a professional, but completly ballsed up his job and the club were headed south with him in charge. Blancs credentials as a manager aren’t in question.AVBs are ..by many people.More questioning than not I would say by all accounts.I chose Blanc becasue of all the names on this supposed short list, his was the one that appealed most.AVB was theone that appealed least in the world to be honest ,and the one I don’t get.
Were you sat at home last season often with thoughts of how much you wished AVB could be our manager? I don’t think you were somehow. To be very honest ,other than Guardiola, there isn’t anybody that I can get overly excited about out there who is available, but Villas Boas is just a joke and I don’t get what on earth would make the board turn around and go “you know what..that Villas Boas bloke is available and would be a good bet to take us to the next level”It’s like an Alice in Wonderland scenario where white is black ,black is white,up is down and everything is fked.

AVB is still being paid by CFC. He could, if he did not want to work, continue to be paid by CFC for the entirety of his old contract. This is a massive gamble for him too.
Redknapp was at best old and losing his mind, ok for a fan but not a manager.
I really do not think the players will respond to Capello , fantastic club coach but old and possibly too strict for the modern Prem.
We are buying younger players which fits in with AVB and more importantly where THFC need to be to a) sell the club.or.achieve sponsorship..b) Continue to push at the CL or be in the CL both before and when the new stadium opens.
It is a fantastic opportunity for Mr Villas Boas I wish him every success.
Is it him ?

What a stupid article. He’s not even our manager and you still want to have a go. Shows when he was with us it wasn’t in the interests of the club you were always moaning but out od personal spite. OMFG! My reliable ITK sources have confirmed that Daniel Levy is planning on doing a U turn! Harry will be brought back as manager early next week! Apparently it will cost Levy millions to pay off Harry due to a clause which was in his contract when he signed. As a result it’s cheaper to keep him on as manager. Lol this will be a a hectic couple of days! As a Harry fan I’m delighted at this news! Harry Redknapp blue and white army! Wait till Tuesday to have a go at me….it’s true what I’ve just wrote.
In other news…Hayley Mcqueen has huge melons! I often pause skysports news whenever she is on there ;)…shes reading the news but I dont even listen to her. All I do is dream of those huge melons.
Our realiable agents are giving us information that Harry will be telling Luka that if he wants to leave then the only club hes allowed to go to (and can afford him) is Anzi. If he does go, levy wont sell for any less than 40mill. As part of any deal with Anzi, Levy wants their up and coming youngster called cumonmrsmcqueenstits (I know its a long name). Hes an attacking midfielder, scores goals, look him up on youtube.
This coming week will be the best few days of transfer business!

Ive missed out on some of the extreme banter this a.m.
This is becoming religious. There are the pro Harry findamentalists on one side and the pro choice advocates on the other side.
Im sorry I am a monarchist and Im for Levy and whatever he decides until further notice.
Harry R desecrated the flag by offering his ego to bigger than the Cockerel even while his heart was not anywhere close.
Yes AVB is a punt as Mal says but its all a punt.
If you hire Jose Mourinho or Sir Alex maybe its not but you would have to give away half your kingdom and maybe more.
No Im with Sir Daniel and his quest for the Golden Chalice and if he chooses AVB then so be it.
I do reserve the right to complain later but as Spurs fans we must face the new season with hope that this is the right choice and support our great team.

Dont fear the future my friends (although there are a few countrymen on this blog this a.m.)
We will suffice.
The club is much bigger than its parts even though the former commander of the forces never believed that.
I believe in the king and his choices and while our castle is still relatively quaint we do have some of the best fans in the northern hemisphere of London.
Over the hill there are that group from woolwich/brittany who sometimes come here in disguise but there is no imitating our faith and our belief in the next season.
Harry Hotspur has summoned his legions (or is it lesions?) to don their quills and write signs big enough to fill Piccadilly Circus but we must never forget the might of the sword as well.
Soon we will be at the dawn of the new season. All doubts will leave for the coast and we will be left to defend and attack,
Join the fight for the crown and stand firm with Sir Daniel and his new Commander and their Merry Men as they go to Battle….

It’s been interesting reading through all the responses to this posting from HH.
Even as a big Harry fan, I’ll say this: does he say things in the press we wish that he wouldn’t say? Definitely.
Did he take his eye off the ball when the England job appeared to be his? Quite possibly, but none of us will ever really know. You can have your strong suspicions but you don’t know.
You can criticize his ‘big mouth’ and you can criticize his level of commitment (if you think it was lacking), but what I can’t stand is the puerile references to Saggy Chops and similar sentiments. Who cares what he looks like? If you have to criticize his appearance you have a weak argument. How many of you realize that in 1990 he was involved in a serious car crash at Italia 90 in which his best friend died? His twitch, which so many of you like to mock, is related to that.
I don’t know if AVB is going to be next or not, but if he is and if things don’t go well, by all means criticize tactics etc, but don’t start slagging him off for the color of his hair, or whatever else.
We are Tottenham and the personal abuse is beneath us. COYS !!

Interestingly, when Blanc still seemed to have a chance of the Spurs job, the fans here were all in favour of a three-way job swap: Deschamps to France, Blanc to Spurs, Redknapp to Marseille.

Corluka and Krankie sold for combined fee of 13 million and GDS supposed to be off for 8 million.
That is 21 million which should pay for Vertonghan and Syg (assuming they sign) and leave us with a million or 2 over.
Not bad business considering the 3 leaving have recently been no more than bit part players for us and Vertonghan will be be a regular starter with Syg a bit of an unknown quantity.

In Levy We Trust and whom Levy picks we should trust too. He now ceases for me to be the crouching surveyor and rather our Commander.
Lets all get behind Levys choice and give him a shout and support.

Wanker of the week must go to Colin Mafhan a hack at the Express whose deep cover and extensive research has concluded that AVB will face adressing room revolt because of his appointment”
Leading mutiny will be Ledley King, followed closely by Modric, Johnny 2 Saints, Doc Oc, Bentley and Jermain (I’m not always offside) “Offside” Defoe. Seems that these guys are unhappy and the reason for their ennui is the appointment of AVB – which of course has not yet happened – hey ITKs its 1st July here already!!!! What’s (not) happening?
I wonder if this odious twat has actually done this deliberately or was simply under pressure to squeeze it in between yet more elaborate conspiracy theories about Diana and her scurrilous relationship with the son of an arms dealer and the sundry others she put out for.

As a Pompey fan, we were saying very similar things about him towards the end of his tenure and when he jumped ship to join Spurs. Literally the week before, he had said he would never leave us, the club is in my blood blah blah waffle waffle. When we complained about this, a significant proportion of your fellow fans accused us of bitterness and jealousy. Even Redknapp was of the attitudes of ‘I don’t know what I’ve done wrong”. Everything he has said above, he has replicated over the history of his management career and now I’m not surprised that he is doing the same to Spurs…. Blamingothers, bare bones, signing equally as many shite players as he did good ones… I give you Collins Mbasuma, £6m for Nugent and others who were so bad I can’t remember their names, an over-reliance on older players, poor tactics etc. This is also the man regularly lauded by the media as being a fantastic man manager – yeah right! He would mug his own granny if it served his own purposes… He will happily see Spurs go to rack and ruin so long as it serves him well and he can blame someone else for it… The man is an out and out sociopath. You’re better off without him.

Bentley’s main talent was to seize the moment, in full glare of the TV cameras he single handedly lifted a barrel of iced water and ceremoniously tipped it over Harry Redknapp. How many of us would have loved to replicate that action over the following seasons. That was the end of his Tottenham career.

John Terry and Bob Diamond in the Sunday Mirror today. Chelsea fan Bob Diamond goes in the dressing room after 2-1 defeat of Liverpool and brandishes FA Cup. Maybe he can have it melted down and transferred into a bonus package.

Fantastic article in the Express today about the stars queuing up for the exit if AVB gets the job. Apparently, according to their ‘hot sources’, Gio, Bentley, Gallas and possibly Defoe will be off… Blimey, that’s some scoop… How will we cope? Can I get the door for you sirs?
The article goes on to shockingly reveal that Modric might be off! *GASP* what an unforeseen shocker and that Ledders won’t want to hang around… Ledders won’t have any choice, he won’t be able to walk out as he can’t walk.
I mean, where do they get the guts to even write such twaddle, even for the
Goebels weeklyExpress?[Reply]
