Welcome to a nitrous oxide fuelled edition of HH.

Let’s get one thing straight. Arry’s court case and the wholesale absence of ‘ITK’ points squarely towards one of two things.

So to Saha then. Where this has come from is anyone’s guess. Let’s hope we never see this donkey in the Lilywhite shirt. Ever.

Pav is rumoured with a Sunderland move. My view is this is wishful thinking by many but the chances of Martin O’Neil warming to a chap as un-workmanlike as the crazy Russian is highly unlikely.

Defoe to Liverpool is trending on Twitter. My biggest regret in life has been usurped. I now wish I had been able to charge everyone Tweeting this £1.

The Defoe rumour is worthless of course, but the Rodallega rumour is 100% agent talk. Which is a pity as with a gun against my head I’d prefer him to Saha.

You know when a transfer window is on its uppers. Phil Brown rocks up on SSN looking like a supply teacher who was busted for something minor, yet awful.

A season’s loan is a season’s loan, but as I understand it both he and Caulker cannot play in the FA cup ties without permission, so I guess there’s a caveat about a recall under exceptional circumstances?

Sure; if Adeboy get’s injured, wer’re stuffed. But nobody we’re going to sign in January is ever going to change that. Same with Baler and Modders. Nothing to do but rub our lucky rabbit’s feet and hope for the best.

Do you know that for sure?

I don’t know if signing another striker in January would make a big difference, but I’d at least like to find out.

Gudjohnsen signed in January the season we qualified for the CL, and played a small but vital role in helping us get there. Wasn’t the superstar wage breaker that some keep banging on about us not being able to afford either.

    [Reply]

    LosLorenzo Reply:

Fair play. Signing Eidur was a work of subtle genius, and I would welcome that sort of business with open arms if the opportunity presents itself.

If the options are Saha and Hugo, though, I’d rather take my chances with what we have up top. The danger is always there that a new face might upset the current group dynamic. ‘Arry does seem to insist on giving new players a chance, which, unless they’re an improvement on what we have, isn’t always a great idea (I refer you back to Peanut last season).

A good, experienced, powerful forward is sorely needed. A big, fat oaf for the sake of it is poison.

God knows Levy has surprised me before (for better and for worse), and my fingers are crossed. Musn’t forget that the squad we have has got us this far. I’m a bit of a gambling man, and I wouldn’t be devastated if we have to roll the dice with what we’ve got.

Not just the league the whole shebang and yet we are linked at the last minute with Saha. What the F**K is that all about. Have we overspent somewhere and are in need of making a token buy to prove we can? Or has the spurs hierarchy panicked and decided any bloke will do? This last bit of Saha news has made me feel deflated and somewhat unconcerned about tonights game as quite obviously our ambition is to finish somewhere near the top, if possible in the champions league, well guess what THFC we aren’t champions and with links like today we never will be. :-(

if we lose – we’ve never had it so good, two points from eight

How was our injury count tonight ?
Any chance of BAE getting a ban for his poor tackle ?

hope not, can’t remember the rule but the ref never booked him so maybe they can

Not sure the ref even gave a free kick (which means he probably didn’t see it). If that’s the case we could be in a spot of bother.

Glad to see Harry has always rated Saha, and looks like he could be done.

And an unnamed central defender – if the deal is done then Bassong can go to Wolves.

    And Pav could go.

Is there a more despicable manager in the English game at the moment? At least Wenger I only pity these days.

If he’s fit, and can stay fit, Saha is better than doing nothing.

With 15 league games left Saha is probably sensible and realistic. Players will look at it and know it’s the much maligned 4th Striker spot – no Europa games – and the good £20m players aren’t on the market until the summer, unless you pay over the odds. Assumed we partly went for Remy because he can play wide as well as up top. All very well people saying splash the money, but we only have so much and if it meant being stuck with 2nd rate players for the next few years then I’d rather we kept our powder dry.
The Corluka thing on the other hand baffles me. I see he doesn’t fit the team and should be moved on – but not with Naughton AND even Adam Smith loaned out..I worry we’ve left ourselves very sort at RB. Exactly like we did last season, anyone remember Gallas at RB against Blackpool away? Good move for Charlie, bad for us. Would have preferred to wait until the summer. Kaboul is need at CB, where we’re also light.
On a more positive note, hoping the season lives up to it’s promise, we could be in a CRACKING position next summer to do our business early for once – have a good pre-season and with a better more balanced, more settled squad. Bentley, Jenas, Bassong, Corluka, Pav off the wage bill – some money in the kitty – a few youngsters ready to fill out perhaps. 4/5 smart signings (GK, CB, Winger, Striker + Ade) and we’ll be in great shape. New training ground, New stadium in the works, Champions League football? Maybe even be able to extend Modric and Bale’s contracts and challenge for the title consistently. Dare to dream, COYS.

Not the window we were all hoping for – if the info coming out is true we didn’t pursue Krasic cos he want a perm move and not a loan deal! If we were pursuing Samba it didn’t happen cos Balckburn weren’t selling. Apparently we also bid £18m for Remy which was it seems turned down.
So we’re left with a stop gap short term striker and Centre back to cover want-away Pav and Bassong. The pattern of Arry’s first team choices is pretty apparent – and 3rd in the Prem shows he’s probably getting it right. Saha and Nelsen are not signings to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up but at least provide a bit of cover I venture to suggest!Hartley has a point about Walker / Charlie tho’ – with 5 centre backs to choose from (plus Hudd?) you’d hope at least 3 of them would be fit at any one time and release Kaboom to play on the right? Or Sandro / Livermore in an emergency?
